In order to ensure safety and a quality event, we must plan certain logistics and costs based on the number of registrants, not the number of participants. In order to manage costs and expectations for all runners, the Pike’s Peek 10K does not offer refunds.
We do understand that life happens – injuries, business trips and other things sometimes have the nerve to interfere with our running. In order to accommodate registrants who encounter these instances we offer the following transfer and deferral options. Please note that there is a deadline of Sunday, April 10th for all transfers and a deadline of Sunday, April 17th for deferral requests.
Transferring is a paid registrant finding another participant to run in their spot AND executing an official bib transfer through our website. Simply giving your bib to another person without executing an official transfer creates a bandit situation which is disrespectful to other participants and creates serious liability and safety issues for the race organizers, medical staff and other volunteers conducting the race. Participants who provide, or accept, bibs without an official transfer will be disqualified and may be banned from participation in future events. Thank you for your understanding.
Registrants wishing to transfer their registration are responsible for finding a new person to take their spot. In order to transfer your bib to a new participant, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: Your full name (as it appears in registration), the full name of the person you are transferring to, and the email address of the person you are transferring to.
Please note the race team does NOT handle the financial aspects of the transfer. That is for you to work out personally, with the participant taking your place. The deadline to start the transfer process is Sunday, April 10th.
Deferring is a paid registrant who is unable to participate in the 2022 Pike’s Peek 10K but wishes to participate in the 2023 Pike’s Peek 10K. Deferrals to other MCRRC races are not possible.
Registrants who defer their 2022 entry to the 2023 race do not receive a refund. Instead, they will receive a code to register for the 2023 race when registration for the 2023 race opens. There is a $10 deferral fee that will apply when you defer to the 2023 event. You can defer your registration by navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Defer Registration. Deferrals must be completed by Sunday, April 17th.
When you are ready to claim your deferred entry for the 2023 race, please contact email@example.com.
If you chose to defer your registration from the cancelled 2020 race, you will receive an email with a code to re-register for the 2022 race. If you do not receive that email and you see that registration is open, simply contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll assist you.
